Welcome to Carine's Web page
Hi there! My name is Carine Vindeirinho. I am a French girl from Portuguese parents and I come from Paris where I was in a school of engineering, the ENSTA (Ecole Nationale Superieure de Techniques Avancees). I have a very general background (maths, physics, electronics, computer science) but my option is in Marine Environment.
I came from France to the University of British Columbia (UBC), in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences because I wanted to go in an english-speaking country to study oceanography. I decided to come to Canada to do a Master of Science.
As part of the master, my thesis is about the influence of submarine canyons on the aggregation of zooplankton. This project is part of the GLOBEC project, for which I provide a Web page showing my results.
I finished my Master's in July 1998 and am now working for an environmental engineering company, Lorax Environmental Services Ltd. I am their physical oceanographer but also help with their other projects, which are mainly geochemical. Most of our clients are mining companies and we provide them with data and advice on how to be environmentally sound.
My hobbies : I love sports and in particular I play regularly volley-ball, I do aerobics, run and I bike to work... I also love going to the movies, the theatre and reading.
